Skirts

Are these not the cutest skirts ever?  My friend made a Halloween version and knew that I had to make one for my girls.  I wish I could say I whipped them out one afternoon.  However, that would be a big fat lie.  I thought I could.  But they were way beyond my sewing abilities.  However, my MIL is an amazing seamstress.  So she made them for me.  Yes, my project becomes hers.  She's very nice that way.  We She made 3 actually.  One for my niece who is Lauren's age.  Good thing we get her hand me downs.  I'm thinking Lindsey will have one of these skirts for the next 4 years!

Things that make me Happy

Different things at different times make me happy. Right now, the kid's bathroom makes me happy. Ok, once I look past the bright blue toothpaste in the sink and water spots on the mirror. Loving ribbon instead of shower curtain rings. Those things never stay in and just frustrate me.
This picture of my kiddos all loving the bath.

And my favorite- coordinated towels for each kiddo. And HOOKS! Towel bars and kids just don't play well together at my house!

Homemade

I just love homemade things. Here are 2 of my latest things I am loving! My carseat canopy. So easy to make. I thought I was making it just for the cute factor. However, it's very functional too. I use it all the time. LOVE LOVE cute and functional!

Lindsey is my first binky baby. So I had to make these clippies. However, I have yet to clip them on her. They are clipped to the bouncer, swing, car seat, etc. I have two little "helpers" who love to bring me her binky wherever and whenever. Therefore, when I actually NEED one, I could never find one. So now they all have their place and it's a beautiful thing when everything has it's own place at my house!! :)

Taking it easy

I've been so lucky to have my Mom here from Texas for as long as I need her. She has been in charge of Taylor and Lauren. She takes them out every morning to go do something fun while I sleep and take it easy. It has been so nice. The whole C-Section thing threw me for a loop and has taken me much longer than I expected or would have liked to bounce back. My kids are lucky to have her. Exactly what is taking it easy?

- After doing laundry, I realized I only wore T-shirts and lounge pants

- My hair has not felt serum or a straightener all week

- I pull out leftovers or whatever I can put together from the fridge and call it "dinner"- (much easier to do while Greg's out of town)

Now my Mom is gone and I am on my own! But here are a few things I made before I had Lindsey that I am loving!

I'm in love with this fabric! My camera strap is made of this fabric and that just wasn't enough. So when I saw it in the quilt store, I had to buy some. Before I knew Lindsey was a "she" I decided I just had to have a nursing cover from this fabric and if it was a boy- "well, oh well" Good thing I had a girl!I also made these burp cloths and lovies before having Lindsey to give as gifts. However, the one on the left- yep, that's a keeper for Lindsey! (or me)

Cute, Functional and Fun

This is what my recipie tin has been, so I had to make another tin. My SIL made me a binder to keep all my cards in by month. I loved it and used it for many years. However, I have a large family that keeps growing so the pockets became too small. So I decided to make a tin version. Every Jan. I sit down and make all my birthday cards for the year. And this is where I get to store them! fun uh!

Each month has it's own section seperated by dividers like you see. Behind each divider is a month sheet that has the dates for names of people who have birthdays in that month. Even this is a little snug and we're already 3 months into the year. But it works great!

Right Now

Out of my window: Quiet, Sunny day
I am wearing: Gray lounge pants, navy long sleeve shirt (Sunday after church uniform)
I am hearing: Nothing! Kids and hubby are sleeping
I am thinking: how nice it was to get some random sewing projects done yesterday with my MIL and how I really need to get some digital scrapbooking done before #3 comes
I am thankful for: My wonderful family, Greg's good job during these hard economic times, a nice home and that we are all very healthy
I am creating: A recipe tin. My Recipe binder was taking way too much of my itty bitty counter space

I LOVE my little dividers that keep track of the different catergories. And I LOVE my big binder clip to keep my recipie card safe and upright while cooking
I am going: no where today but we have a busy/exciting day tomorrow. Meeting new friends at the park and meeting new Dr. for Taylor
I am hoping: I get a lot more sewing done this weekend while Greg is out of town
I am reading: nothing right now- I have too many projects going
Around the house: there's evidence that 2 little kids live here- there's even a few children's books in my bathtub. They like to be where we are and we were in the bathroom this morning getting ready for church!
One of my favorite things: eating ice cream and watching 24 with Greg

Just can't get enough of the Pink and Brown

With the help of family and friends I gave my sister a SURPRISE baby shower! What a blast! I made her 2 burp cloths, the wipes holder and a taggie lovey. I had so much fun making them for her! I have 5 siblings who all live somewhere along I15 from St. George to Rexburg, ID. All the girls met in SLC for the shower and the guys and kids came to my house for a weekend full of football and 4 kids under 4 years old. More details to come!

Trendy... Not so Much

I've never been very trendy. By the time I get with the program, I'm too late and then I just look pathetic trying to be old trendy! But I love the pink and brown. I still LOVE it as much I did over a year ago when I first saw it. A few months ago I made this little book for Lauren. It sits on her shelf by her changing table and I never tire looking at it as I'm changing her diaper for the 18,903th time that day!
